ROMEN - the little shop was opened on 4th December 2002 in Nerudova Street 32, Prague 1, as a charitable facility - "shop", with products of Roma artists and craftsmen.

Romen represents the first shop (not only in the Czech Republic but also in neighbouring countries) selling Roma products of one hundred of Roma designers artists a producers from all the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The aim of the Romen project is to represent the Roma culture to the Czech and international public through Roma traditional and modern products on one hand and to promote the Roma to earn their living with the traditional handicrafts, which they have been running in the territory of former Czechoslovakia for centuries
In Romen - the little shop, there are present the products of Roma painters currently (Rudolf Dzurko, Ernest Danco, Jan Bartoh - Biskup), traditional - and mostly dissolved - handicrafts (black-smiths from Dunajska Luzna settlement, trough-makers from Podcicva by Presov, basket-makers from Southern Slovakia) and hand-made products of Roma women from all the Czech Republic The collection is completed by the production of children from Roma clubs mainly the paintings made by them in the settlement nemad Jarovnica (Eastern Slovakia) are remarkable.
Romen - the little shop offers probably the largest collection of Roma and Roma-studies literature and lots of Roma music recordings, as well as the fine-art works and products inspired by Roma (photographs made by Jaroslav Kucera and paintings of the artist Magdalena Konecna, in the current time).
The original and beautiful interior is influenced by Roma primitive art, and has paintings of the noted Roma artist Rudof Dzurko. It was designed by the painter Dino Ceco. Romen the little shop was opened with the support of the European Union through the Civil Society Development Foundation (PHARE programme) and the other donors. The other associations - SLOVO 21, Prague (the World Roma festival KHAMORO organiser) and Museum of Roma culture, Brno supported the establishment of Romen - the little shop and help with its common work.
